Motorola's upcoming moto Edge 70 Neo is expected to bring camera and performance upgrades to its compact smartphone lineup, with the handset tipped to feature a 50MP ultrawide camera, a faster processor and a 6.3-inch 1.5K OLED display. The smartphone is expected to launch in India in the coming months, although the company has not provided an official launch timeline.

Announced in September 2026, the moto Edge 70 Neo is expected to follow the approach of its predecessor, the moto Edge 60 Neo, which stood out as a compact upper mid-range smartphone. Both devices are expected to offer premium features in the mid-range segment, with comparatively smaller displays and lower-capacity batteries.

According to industry leaks, the Edge 70 Neo could feature a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 main camera, a 6.3-inch 1.5K OLED panel and a MediaTek Dimensity 7450 chipset.

Battery capacity is another area where the two models are expected to remain similar. Motorola fitted the Edge 60 Neo with a 5,000mAh battery, and the Edge 70 Neo is also expected to house the same capacity.

The company claims that the battery can power the phone for up to 44 hours on a single full charge. Both devices are expected to support 68W TurboPower wired charging and 15W wireless charging for quicker top-ups.

IP68 and IP69 protection

Durability is another feature expected to remain part of the Edge Neo series. Both smartphones are rumoured to carry IP68 and IP69 ratings, which provide protection against dust and water.

The handsets are also expected to receive MIL-STD 810H certification for military-grade durability, adding to their protection against challenging conditions.

Camera upgrades expected on the moto Edge 70 Neo

The camera system is expected to be one of the key areas of improvement on the moto Edge 70 Neo.

According to reports, the smartphone will retain a 50MP main camera at the back but could feature an upgraded 50MP ultrawide lens, compared with the 13MP ultrawide sensor on the Edge 60 Neo.

The higher-resolution ultrawide camera is expected to improve image sharpness and low-light performance when capturing landscapes and group shots.

Both smartphones are tipped to feature a 10MP telephoto sensor with 3X optical zoom, completing the rear camera setup.

On the front, the moto Edge 70 Neo is expected to feature a 50MP selfie camera, compared with the 32MP front camera on the Edge 60 Neo.

Faster processor and improved performance

The moto Edge 60 Neo runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, while its successor is tipped to feature the more advanced Dimensity 7450 processor.

The newer chipset is expected to deliver improved power efficiency and enhanced AI processing capabilities, which could support moto AI, Motorola's on-device artificial intelligence.

Like the Edge 60 Neo, the Edge 70 Neo is expected to offer 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The configuration is expected to support gaming, everyday tasks and multitasking.
